All gear is provided by the guides, including life jackets. You can bring your own if preferred.

We fish rain or shine. If you would prefer to reschedule or cancel your trip due to weather, please call us at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund. We reserve the right to alter your trip if weather and/or river conditions require us to do so. In cases of alteration, we will reschedule or provide a full refund.

Springtime, before the run-off, is a fun time to be on the river. The trout are hungry after hunkering down all winter.

July and August are our most popular times to go fishing. The weather is nice and the fish are active.

Our secret season is the fall. As fish prepare for the winter, they’re less picky about what they eat.

Our fishing trips do not have set age requirements — all are welcome! However, we do ask that you also consider your child's enthusiasm for fishing ahead of booking your trip. While we love sharing the Flathead River with little anglers, young children may have trouble staying engaged on trips spanning several hours or multiple days.

Trips that feature whitewater navigation (such as Middle Fork trips) may also be subject to age and weight restrictions depending on river conditions. The average minimum age requirements per month are 8–12 in June, 6–8 in July and 5–7 in August. All participants must weigh at least 50lb.

Our guides are experienced rowers and passionate anglers who can take a day on the river from good to great. We take the stress out of navigating so you can spend more time with your line in the water.

For beginners, our guides are more than eager to show you the ropes and teach you all the skills needed to catch your first trout.

No, all fishing on the Middle Fork and North Fork of the Flathead River is catch and release.

The Flathead River is home to healthy populations of westslope cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and whitefish.

Native Bull trout, listed and protected by under the federal Endangered Species Act are also present in the river. Because of their status, if you happen to hook into one, we ask that you release it as quickly and gently as possible without removing the fish out of the water. They are very sensitive!

We recommend a 5 weight/9 foot rod or smaller with a weight forward floating line, several leaders (4x or 5x leaders work well), and a good variety of western trout patterns including the Chubby Chernobyl in pink or purple, Army’s Ant in natural or black, red and yellow Humpies, Royal Wulff, caddis patterns (especially the Elk Hair), Parachute Adams and Stimulators.

Although the fly fishing is primarily from a boat, you may want to throw in your waders. If you have questions on what to bring or would rather wait to pick up your equipment when you arrive in Montana, we have a full service fly shop to assist you.
